Braille Signs

Sign Workplace Safety

Braille is a non-linear writing or tactile writing system for the blind (and visually impaired) invented by the Frenchman Louis Braille (1809-1852) in 1821. He lost his eyesight early in childhood though an accident and was then sent off for a special school for the blind where he was then inspired to create a form of 'reading' through touch. Braille is read by passing the fingers over the raised dots and characters which identify a word to the be identified and 'read'. It became a universal code for English-speaking countries enabling the visually impaired the ability to read which was adopted in 1932. Braille is also produced by special machines with six keys, one for each dot in the Braille cell. A modified form of this device is still in use today, as are later, similar devices. Our range of braille signs cover your needs, from amentity signage to stairways and emergency fire exits. If there's a particular sign you need but can't find then don't hesitate to give us a call and we'll help by either finding the appropriate sign for your needs or by custom creating you one.
